Cosmetics Crackdown

The Challenge.

A global cosmetics brand found itself facing a sophisticated counterfeit network operating across multiple e-commerce stores and social media accounts. The counterfeiters used fragmented online identities and a multilayered supply chain to evade detection. The target criminal group operated 9 e-commerce shops, 10 social media accounts, 2 registered companies, and was spread across 6 major online platforms. Their online footprint was intentionally fragmented to avoid platform‑level detection.

Furthermore, counterfeit goods were sourced from multiple upstream suppliers across different cities and provinces, making it difficult to identify the physical dens.

ChampionIPR and ChampionAI combined advanced digital intelligence and market monitoring with coordinated offline investigation and enforcement to dismantle the entire network and apprehend those responsible.

This case demonstrates Champion Group’s full‑spectrum O2O (Online‑to‑Offline) capability -from AI‑driven detection to multi‑city criminal enforcement.

Background.

During a regional market survey, Champion identified several suspicious entities involved in the processing, storage, and sale of counterfeit electrical products. These operations were spread across multiple districts and appeared to be part of a coordinated supply chain.

Key Findings.

Champion escalated the findings to the Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation (AMR), which initiated a unified enforcement action with support from local Market Supervision Bureaus.

Enforcement Results.

Seizures

Authorities confiscated:

  • Over 50,000 counterfeit cosmetic items.
  • Finished goods, semi‑finished products, equipment and packaging materials.
  • Total seizure value: RMB 50 million (US $7 million).

Criminal Judgments

A total of 15 offenders were sentenced:

  • 6 principal offenders received 3 – 5 years’ imprisonment
    • As well as fines ranging from RMB 9M to RMB 13.9M (US $1.3 – US $2million)
  • 9 additional offenders received 2 – 4 years’ imprisonment or suspended sentences
    • As well as fines ranging from RMB 70,000 to RMB 850,000 (US $10k – US $125k)

Your Champion, Your Win.

ChampionAI’s digital monitoring identified networks, mapped accounts, and traced suppliers.

ChampionIPR conducted field investigations and surveillance, undercover purchases, and supply-chain tracing.

Multi-city joint operations were coordinated with PSB units across 3 localities.

This case highlights Champion Group’s ability to deliver real, measurable enforcement results against complex, multi platform counterfeit networks. By combining advanced AI monitoring with deep offline investigative capability, Champion provides seamless and effective protection for global brands operating in China.
